LEAN DAILY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LDMS) workshop

Turn routine into discipline, and discipline into sustained operational excellence.

Description

Many organisations implement Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen and VSM, but struggle to sustain the results. The missing link is a Lean Daily Management System (LDMS) — a structured framework that connects strategy to execution through disciplined leadership routines and visible performance management.

LDMS enables leaders and teams to monitor process health daily, identify and resolve abnormalities early, and reinforce continuous improvement habits. It is the engine that sustains Lean transformation, ensuring that improvement activities become part of daily work rather than one-off events.

This highly practical workshop equips participants with the knowledge and tools to design, implement and sustain an LDMS that drives performance, engagement, and accountability across all levels of the organization.

Who Should Attend

  • Senior and middle managers driving Lean or Operational Excellence initiatives

  • Department heads and supervisors responsible for daily performance management

  • Continuous Improvement practitioners and internal Lean coaches

  • Team leaders who want to sustain 5S, Kaizen and problem-solving efforts through structured routines

Training Methodology

  • Short lectures and visual examples to introduce core LDMS principles

  • Group discussions and simulations to practise leader standard work, tiered huddles and visual management

  • Case studies and real-world examples from leading Lean organizations

  • Team exercises and templates to design LDMS boards, routines and rollout plans

  • Action planning to translate learning into immediate workplace application

Learning Objectives

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the purpose and components of an effective Lean Daily Management System

  2. Design and implement Leader Standard Work to create disciplined leadership routines

  3. Use Visual Controls and Performance Boards to make performance visible and actionable

  4. Conduct effective Tiered Huddles and manage daily accountability

  5. Develop leadership behaviours and sustainment practices that make improvement continuous

  6. Create a practical rollout plan for establishing LDMS in their own organization

Workshop Outline

Session 1 – Foundations of LDMS

  • Why Lean tools fail without a daily management system

  • The four key pillars: Leader Standard Work, Visual Controls, Daily Accountability, Leadership Discipline

  • How LDMS sustains Lean initiatives such as 5S and Kaizen

Session 2 – Leader Standard Work

  • Daily, weekly and monthly routines for supervisors and managers

  • Shifting focus from firefighting to process health

  • Coaching and “go-and-see” behaviours that sustain improvement

Session 3 – Visual Controls & Performance Boards

  • Designing effective SQCDP boards and tiered dashboards

  • Making performance visible and enabling real-time problem solving

  • Escalation logic and action-tracking mechanisms

Session 4 – Daily Accountability Process

  • Structure and flow of Tier 1–3 huddles

  • Escalating abnormalities and closing the loop on actions

  • Simulation of an effective daily huddle

Session 5 – Leadership Discipline & Sustainment Mechanisms

  • Building consistency and accountability through leader routines

  • Coaching, audits, and process confirmation

  • Embedding LDMS into culture — from compliance to ownership

Session 6 – Implementation Planning

  • Developing a phased LDMS rollout plan

  • Group exercise: designing visual boards and huddle flow

  • Commitment to action and sustainment roadmap
